Situation with Audiology for my twin nieces

I have twin nieces who currently age 1. I went to an audiology appointment with my sister.

Unfortunately many audiologists do push C.I. on parents, trying hard to convince them it is the only option (roll eyes)

To try to guilt your sister into opting for C.I. so the twins can be more alike is a pretty low tactic. Thank goodness your sister was assertive!

It is sad to see how audiologists treat Deaf people. They need to be more professional and not pusher which is unprofessional or unethical. I am glad that sister stood up for her kids. Thanks for sharing with us.

Another example of how hearing people perceive deafness!

Anyway, I really like your style! So I am going to link you to my blog and hope to see more Vlogging from you down the long road!

A basic tool in medical research is the twin study where one twin is treated and the other twin is not. Your neices perhaps were viewed as important for a twin comparision: one gets an implant and the other not because of being hard of hearing.

I'm sure this was never explained and is not a good reason to choose the CI anyway. Parents are the only people who should choose and the reasons for the choice should be their own.

I would like to share with you about my experience taking audiology test. My audiologist used computer equipment to program digital hearing aid to fit my exact hearing loss. My audiologist asked me if I would consider to accept C.I. I reacted negatively, "No Ways". The audiologist apologized because this is her job to tell me about C.I. by the policy. I was stunned that my insurance would cover C.I. by 100 percent and my digitial hearing aid will not be covered. I told my audiologist that it is not fair because C.I. surgery costs more than digital hearing aid. My audiologist agreed that it makes no senses but she is required to comply with the policy to tell all Deaf clients about C.I. It is sad that C.I. will damage more hearing nerve of Deaf clients. There is real irony due to medical politic.
